Babushka’s Saint

Penny had not been planning to run a family at the age of 12. And if she had ever considered escaping into some fantasy adventure, it is almost certain that her brother, Kye, would have been the last person she would have selected to accompany her.

Of course, this is the very thing that does happen. Not only do they end up visiting other worlds, but they bring back someone with them, a most unwelcome guest, who begins to take over.

If they thought that life at home and at school could not get worse, they were very wrong…

Spirits of Matryoshka

Following on from their adventures in Babushka’s Saint, Penny and Kye find themselves lured back by sinister Uncle Dom into a world from which they had escaped, to rescue their younger brother. The year is 1917, and they find themselves trapped in a nightmare, a continent in the chaos of war and revolution. Like a matryoshka doll, there are layers within.

The journey they have to make is an odyssey both real and moral. This book is about difficult choices; it is about growing up in a world where adults cannot be trusted as guides; it is about the survival of hope amidst exploitation and betrayal.

In The Cocoon Web

Penny finds herself increasingly isolated. Friends and family turn against her. A strange Russian forest is spreading in the city. Uncle Dom is at the centre of everything. There is only one last place to get rid of him, but this involves a final journey more dangerous than any before, from which there may be no return.

The story moves between forest and city, from familiar school buildings to unrecognisable places filled with strange creatures – places where it becomes hard to separate friend from foe.
